When is the best day to tweet or post on Facebook?

According to a recent study by Yesmail, Tuesday is the best day for engaging fans on Facebook and Twitter. It also showed that companies usually publish new posts on days when engagement rates are very low.

The study analyzed behavior of major retailers on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. According to the authors, preliminary findings suggest that there are the same or similar trends in other sectors. The full report can be downloaded here.

Facebook

Firms tend to upload new posts on Fridays, despite Tuesday being the most enaging. Brands pay too much attention to posting on Fridays and as a result, their posts get lost in the newsfeed among so many others.  

Pictures and videos proved to be most engaging. On contrary, posting links has a downward trend in terms of gaining engagement.

Twitter

Most messages are retweeted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The top five most engaging brands on Twitter tweeted 45 to 70 times per week. The five least successful tweeted approximately a hundred times a week.

YouTube

The best day for publishing videos on YouTube was Monday, followed Tuesday. Just like on the above-mentioned social media, most videos were published on Fridays.

The most important finding about YouTube was the key role of the length of videos. The most engaging videos lasted only up to 30 seconds.

 

A positive effect of combination with email campaigns was proven on all three platforms.
