In every field we can learn something that fits well in our everyday life. Today, we have chosen five lessons from the field of public relations.

  1. People are funny. You will find they rarely fit into the stereotype where you probably would have fit them. Many ultra-conservatives are actually very open to new ideas unlike some liberals. An old man can be a top salesperson of the latest technological achievements.
  2. Words are important. Even more important is how you say them. Their order can turn things around. Whenever you write anything, always read it again and carefully consider the words. A slight slip can have far-reaching consequences.
  3. What is better than contacts? Friends! Even virtual. Become friends with those with whom you are in regular contact. Contacts help you at work, friends co-creates your life.
  4. You can never be enough cautious. Thinking and planning strategies in advance is an absolute necessity. Be attentive and careful in everything you do. Many large campaign failed due to minor mistakes.
  5. It is important to be yourself. This is also the reason why social media are such a success - people deal with real people there. So it pays to be the true face of your business and act on your own behalf.
