Social media can effectively support the brand. If you work with them poorly, however, they will do a poor job and can even damage your brand. Let's see the most common mistakes on social media and how to avoid them.
- Posts not customized for the social network. Each network has different possibilities and is intended for a different kind of communication. Do not expect that a post for Twitter will do well on Facebook or LinkedIn. On the contrary. Therefore, think ahead what you want to publish and where.
- Absence of strategy. Why are you actually on Facebook? And should you be on Twitter? And why? Now these are the things that you need to clarify in your strategy and then communicate accordingly.
- One-way communication. Social networks are not just a message board. They provide a possibility to listen and learn. Remember - social media have the ability to show signs of your human dimension. Use them to your benefit!
- The pressure to buy. Social media are not intended for selling. People will not add you if you overwhelm them with sales offers. They want to talk, communicate. Therefore, rather than just selling propositions, share interesting news and information that help people, and maybe they will want to share them. Information about you must be at least in balance with the rest of content you provide.
- Absence of posts or their inconsistency. This is worse than to be absent from social media altogether. You will seem unreliable. Therefore, post at least once a week (and on some social networks rather more often).
