If there was a clear answer, many marketers and PR staff would be paid in gold for it. One hundred percent guarantee of virality is not possible. However, it is possible to identify the qualities that dominate in successful viral posts. Noah Kagan analyzed 100 million articles and found out how to support article except for offering readers interesting and valuable content.
Check out the 10 main conclusions of the analysis, due to which you can increase the likelihood that your content becomes viral.
- Rather longer articles. Does that surprise you? It has been shown that people are much more likely to share articles of 3000-10000 words in length rather than up to 1000 words. The same was shown earlier in a study monitoring forwarding articles by e-mail.
- Add an image preview. If there is an image preview on Facebook or Twitter, the likelihood of sharing increases.
- Awe, laughter or amusement. Now these are the attributes of most shared posts.
- Lists and infographics.
- The magic number of items on the list is 10.
- Trust. The more trustworthy the more shared.
- Influencers can multiply the number of shares.
- Older content deserves adequate support.
- Best day for sharing is Tuesday.
