Each manager can experience the situation when, because of his strategic work or spending most of the time with the most important clients, he will not exactly know what is going on in his team. Suddenly, he begins to notice that everything is not as it should be and some employees are literally struggling with their tasks. Then you need to take action as soon as possible. To find out the most important information, talk with such employees individually and ask them the following three questions.
"What do you think your role involves?"
Thanks to this question, you can easily find out whether an employee properly understands his role. Maybe you will learn that your ideas are diametrically different. If you notice this fact at more employees, you should set it right as soon as possible.
"In which ways do you spend your time?"
This question will tell you if your people are focused on the right tasks, whether they spend their weekly working hours the way you expect from them. If not, you have a perfect opportunity to intervene and direct your team in the right direction.
"How do you work?"
Talk about specific examples of work processes and tools and focus on how they can be more effective.
Your goal is to uncover problems so that you can come up with solutions.
